About the guide

A practical reference for life under glass.

Terrarium Guide is a small, independent publishing project about plant terrariums. It is being built to help readers choose suitable plants and materials, understand the trade-offs in a setup, and solve ordinary care problems without overstating what a terrarium can do.

What this site covers

Our scope is planted terrariums, the materials used to build them, and everyday care decisions. The library covers humid closed and partly open planting, open succulent displays, air-plant supports, specialist carnivores, and individual plant care in glass. It also includes material comparisons, complete build steps, buying checks, and care and troubleshooting guides.

Animal husbandry and broad vivarium care are outside the site’s current focus. Where a nearby topic matters, the boundary should be stated rather than blurred.

Who prepares the guide, and how

Terrarium Guide is maintained by its project owner as an independent publishing project. The site name identifies responsibility for the pages; it does not imply a team of horticultural professionals.

These guides organize published horticultural information into plant comparisons, material checks, build steps, and conditional design examples. Sources appear beside the relevant sections and in each page’s reference list. An editorial suggestion is a way to apply those facts to a setup, rather than a report of a growing trial.

AI assists with research organization, drafting, code, and some illustrations. The sources and the conditions attached to advice remain visible so readers can check the reasoning. Hands-on experience, professional review, and measured results are only described when there is an actual record to support them.

  • Care claims should be traceable to reliable sources or clearly identified observation.
  • Recommendations should say who or what they suit, not pretend there is one best choice for everyone.
  • Hands-on testing, professional review, or product ownership will only be claimed when it actually happened and can be described.
  • Substantial corrections should be made in the page itself, not hidden in a disclaimer.

What is published today

You can read the plant selection guide, compare environments and growth habits, and follow linked plant profiles for planting, maintenance and replacement. These are source-based explanations and conditional design suggestions. They are not presented as Terrarium Guide growing trials.

To plan a project, follow the complete build guide and materials checklist. Before buying, use the plant purchasing checks or kit comparison. For an established display, start with routine care and follow the relevant watering or problem checks.

Licensed plant photographs show appearance and carry their creator and license. Supporting illustrations explain placement or an action; production and rights records are retained with the media. Images do not establish botanical identification, a measured growing result or compatibility by themselves. Any media used as actual observation evidence must describe its real origin and conditions.

How the site may be funded

Terrarium Guide may eventually use clearly labeled advertising and affiliate links. Neither is active simply because a space or a product is mentioned. Commercial relationships must not change the basic standard for inclusion or turn a comparison into a disguised advertisement.

Read the affiliate disclosure for the current status and the rules we intend to follow if affiliate links are introduced.
